Julie Paul is a highly qualified psychiatric nurse practitioner and nurse midwife with certifications from the ANCC and AMCB. She also holds a Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) from Postpartum Support International. Julie earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Frontier Nursing University in Hyden, Kentucky.
From 2006 to 2021, Julie practiced full-scope midwifery, co-directing the midwifery service and pioneering the first early labor lounge in the United States, which aimed to support early labor and reduce cesarean sections.
Her dedication to providing evidence-based care shines through in her impressive career. Julie founded the Perinatal Behavioral Health Program in Weymouth, MA, offering crucial support for pregnant, postpartum, and parenting individuals dealing with mood disorders, trauma, and substance use disorders. After moving to New Hampshire, she served as the Director of Women’s Mental Health at Rivia Mind in New York. Continuing her commitment to perinatal mental health, Julie joined Family Well, a startup integrating mental health services into OB offices to improve access to care.
Recently, Julie launched her own practice, Empower Perinatal, focusing on delivering high-quality, accessible care for pregnant and postpartum individuals. Empower Perinatal is dedicated to fostering a nurturing environment that emphasizes empowerment, choice, and strength, ensuring clients feel supported and confident in making the best choices for their health and well-being.
Julie’s passion lies in supporting peripartum individuals with depression, anxiety, birth trauma, and PTSD. She provides trauma-informed care, respecting each individual’s expertise in their own body and emphasizing the importance of choice, empowerment, and autonomy in building a healthy relationship. She has added accelerated resolution therapy to her offerings for those struggling with birth trauma and secondary birth trauma.
